Tomato Dosa. Tomato Dosa is a unique South Indian Dosa recipe. Here the batter used to make the Dosa is mixed with tomato puree and urad dal. It is an interesting recipe that you cannot afford to miss on.
Heat a tawa, and when the tawa is hot, add a ladle of tomato dosa batter and spread it to a thin dosa. Add very little oil and keep the flame in low and allow the dosa to cook on one side. Then flip it to other side and allow to cook. You can have Tomato Dosa using 5 ingredients and 3 steps. Here is how you achieve it.
Ingredients of Tomato Dosa
- Prepare 2 of tomato.
- Prepare 2 of redchilies.
- You need 1 pc of ginger.
- Prepare 1 of chopped onion.
- Prepare 1 cup of dosa batter.
When the dosa is cooked and becomes little crispy, remove from tawa. Tomato dosa or Thakkali Dosa (Thakkali stands for tomato in Malayalam and Tamil) is a delicious crispy dosa which incorporates tomato in the usual dosa batter. It is a quick-to-make dosa recipe which does not require any fermentation. The tomato in the batter lends the dosa its tangy and yummy taste.
Tomato Dosa instructions
- Grind tomato,red chilies and ginger. Add the tomato paste into dosa batter.
- Take a small pan, Add oil,mustardseeds,fennel seeds,curry leaves,chopped onion and asafoedita powder. Add tadka to dosa batter. mix it together.
- Heat the dosa pan and pour dosa batter. finally tomato dosa ready.
To the hot tawa pour a ladle full of tomato dosa batter in circular motion. Start pouring the batter from the outside rim of tawa to inwards center of tawa. As the batter is thin,it will become lacy. (The method of pouring this dosa is similar to rava dosa). Add tomatoes and salt and mix well. Now take this in blender along with coconut and make into a puree.
